Kitchen Aid KCDB250G ½ HP Continuous Feed Garbage Disposal

Disposing of food waste is not a subject that most people like to think about, or talk about, but it is something that every household has to do. We all produce food waste from the preparation of our meals, and the food that we leave on our plates at dinner. We all need a way to dispose of that waste.

Features I Love about the Kitchen Aid KCDB250G Garbage Disposal

Once I got this Kitchen Aid garbage disposal installed I found that there were a lot of features the appliance had that I loved. I am glad to add this appliance to the list of reviews, and I am glad to recommend this garbage disposal to anyone I know.

Stainless Steel Components

The difference between stainless steel and galvanized steel is that stainless steel does not rust. Stainless steel is a higher grade of metal and it does cost a little more than the galvanized steel. That is because anything made from stainless steel is going to last indefinitely while anything made from galvanized steel is going to have a limited lifespan depending on its exposure to things that could make it corrode. This appliance has stainless steel components not galvanized steel components. You are getting a higher quality product that is going to be stronger and last longer.

Powerful

This appliance is powerful enough to dispose of food waste with one quick grinding. You do not have to sort the food waste so that nothing fibrous gets thrown into the garbage disposer. This disposer will grind through tough food waste quickly, and quietly. You will love the power this appliance has because you will be able to grind foods that you would have never tried to put in your old disposal unit.

Continuous Feed

When I go into the kitchen to clean up after a meal I want to be able to do all of the work as quickly as possible and then get out of the kitchen. I do not want to have to wait around for an appliance to catch up to me. I like to rake the food scraps off of the plates and stick them in the dishwasher. With the continuous feed feature of this garbage disposer I am able to get in the kitchen and get it cleaned up without any stopping and waiting.

Easy to Install

I am not a rocket scientist and I do not want to have to hire a rocket scientist to help me install something as basic as my garbage disposal unit. This appliance came with easy to follow instructions. I did not need a lot of expensive tools that I would only use one time, and I did not get frustrated and have to call a plumber over to help me.

I had never installed a garbage disposer like this one and after I did I will never install another unit that is not this easy. I love the installation process.

5 Year Warranty

When an appliance comes with a five year warranty you are pretty certain that the manufacturer has complete confidence in the unit and all of the components that make up the unit. You expect a one year warranty on devices like this one, so when you are offered a five year warranty you know you are choosing a well-made unit.

Pros

  • quiet
  • plenty of torque so it grinds most food waste up easily
  • stainless steel components last longer than galvanized components
  • 5 year warranty
  • ½ HP motor
  • Great technical support from manufacturer
  • Easy to install
  • Easy to read owner’s manual
  • Affordable
  • Continuous feed
  • 26 ounce grinding chamber

Cons

  • Shredder ring may be galvanized steel instead of stainless steel
  • You may have to buy additional pieces of pipe before you can install the appliance
  • Power cord not included

Final Thoughts

A large number of my friends live in rural areas and they do not own food waste garbage disposals. I cannot fathom how they survive without these items. I love mine even though I have dogs that will eat the majority of bones or meat scraps that I have, and I put the majority of vegetable peelings into my compost pile. I still have some scraps of food left that I do not want to have sitting in my refuse bin until garbage pick-up day each week.

This garbage disposal unit is very affordable and it will fit in the majority of homes. It will allow you to have a cleaner home, and to reduce the amount of pest control you have to engage in.
