Bissell Pet Hair Eraser Handheld 33A1 Review

Overview and Best Features

If you don’t want a full-sized vacuum, the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser Handheld Vacuum is a great option. It will provide for your cleaning needs, make for easy storage and not break the bank.

Unlike a lot of other handheld options, this one actually comes with a multi-level filter and a dirt container you can rely on. The cord wrap is also a nice touch you don’t get on a lot of similar machines. Plus, this machine comes with attachments—another rare benefit in handhelds.

How Does It Perform on Different Surfaces?

This machine really isn’t made for your hard floors. It can be used on them, but you’re going to be in an awkward position. So if you’re just picking up the odd item here and there, it will work. However, a drawback is that it lets out air on the sides. That means if you want to pick up debris from the floor, it can potentially get blown around by the very machine you’re trying to use to clean it up.

Carpet rugs are a bit easier in this regard only because they provide more traction for the crumbs, debris, dirt, etc., making it harder for the air that shoots out the sides to knock them around. But, again, if you plan on cleaning whole rugs with this machine, your back is going to pay the price and it will take much longer than simply using a traditional vacuum.

The Bissell Pet Hair Eraser Handheld Vacuum does excel at picking up pet hair just about everywhere else though. Its contour nozzle is made from rubber which makes it nice and flexible when you’re trying to get to all kinds of corners and creases where pet hair loves to hang out. There’s also plenty of power for sucking up those hairs. You’ll be surprised how clean you can get some of your furniture after your pets have enjoyed it.

The Bag System

Being a handheld vacuum, this machine is bagless. If you’re using it to clean animal hair, though, this shouldn’t provide much of a problem. You should be able to get through many jobs before you ever need to empty the canister. This makes cleanup much easier as there is no bag to get debris everywhere.

The canister system on the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser Handheld Vacuum is nicely complimented by the multi-level filtration system. Many traditional vacuums don’t even come with an option like this, so Bissell definitely went out of their way to add a very cool feature.

Emptying is a breeze, despite lacking a bag. Again, if you’re using this predominantly for pet hair, you’re never going to have an issue like with traditional vacuums. But even going after dirt and crumbs won’t cause serious issues with emptying it out.

The Motor, Amps and Suction Power

With a 4 amp engine, the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser Handheld Vacuum has plenty of power for you take advantage of. This translates to some real suction power that will make quick work of many messes. Just be sure the container is cleaned out to get best results.

Attachments

As you might expect from a handheld, the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser Handheld Vacuum doesn’t come with any real attachments. You can elect to switch out the hard nozzle for the rubber countered one, but that’s it.

What We Like Best About the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser

It might be the best handheld vacuum on the market. The suction is amazing and lacking a bag makes it easy to clean out after each performance for better suction each time.

What It Could Do Better

The long cord is kind of an inconvenience more than a luxury. It’s also odd that air shoots out from the side sometimes making it difficult to clean up debris from your floor. Seems like a big oversight to miss.

Bissell Pet Hair Eraser Review Summary

If you have a pet that leaves lots of hair around your furniture, the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser Handheld Vacuum is a good purchase. It’s affordable enough to justify having on hand. The next time your pet leaves hair all over the couch, you can break out this handheld vacuum and clean it up as opposed to your traditional variety.
